When & How to Go

Langkawi lies in tropical waters, therefore, the temperature is warm and pleasant year-round. There are two main seasons; the rainy season and the dry season. The best time to travel to Langkawi is in the dry season which begins in November and ends in April. In this time, conditions are consistently dry and sunny, which are optimal for diving and snorkelling. The rainy season begins in May and spans till October, there are rain periods but normally for a few hours in the morning or evening. However, during this time, there is also significantly more wind so conditions are more favourable for sailing.

There are two ways to reach the main island of Langkawi:

  • By Flight: Malaysian Airlines and Air Asia operate daily flights to Langkawi from various countries. International travellers can connect with these flights. Travellers from Singapore can also choose to use Silk Air which flies directly to Langkawi daily.

  • By Boat: There are daily boats from Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis which take about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
